scheme dreams

I'll be honest, i spend the majority of my day, every day, figuring out how to get the most, best, newest, whatever-est things for the absolute smallest amount of money. keeping it all to myself just seemed wasteful.

eating on the cheap #1

eating on the cheap is hard to do. it requires a lot of energy spent thinking ahead, trips to the store and getting up early to make things. add to that factors such as; not having a car, vegan/vegetarian diets, lactose intolerance, etc. it gets even harder. i’m lazy as hell. so here is how i did it for 4 months this summer.

MOE’S/chipotle

moe’s isn’t very good. but it is cheap as shit and it’s not that bad. it also provides a whole protein in the form of beans + rice with free chips provided. queso is a nice luxury if you can afford it. 99 cents for a side of beans and 99 cents for rice plus free chips (unlimited refills by the way) means you have a really filling meal for $2. now they also sometimes have these punch cards that offer discounts in increments of $.25 with each purchase. if you are ever lucky enough to grab a few of those, get all you can. they never expire and there is no minimum purchase, so essentially, after you buy 3 or 4 meals, the next few are free as hell, and this is a loophole that i tested myself.

NOW, if you are lucky enough to live near a chipotle, you have scored. i was lucky enough to have one directly across the street from my work, which was directly across the street from moe’s. chipotle is way superior to moe’s in almost every way, give 2. no queso, and no free chips. their sides are bigger and taste better AND ARE CHEAPER. $.75 for beans and rice. but, no free chips. now for the ultimate: go to moes, get a side of queso to go and they will hook you up with a WHOLE BAG OF CHIPS free, 99 cents total. then you shoot on over to chipotle and get a side of beans and rice (flirt with the staff and they will eventually start hooking you up with a dab of sour cream or some lettuce) while you are there snatch a side of the chipotle ranch dressing, and get a WATER CUP. they still have their fountain drinks and teas seperate from the register and are self service, so, free drink. you just got more delicious food than you can eat and a free drink for less than $3.

try it out, feel powerful, and full, next time we talk birthday freebies.
